My parents purchased this marina in 1955 when in only consisted of 10 open slips and 10 sets
of lockers which fishermen needed to keep their fishing tackle in. The original location was in Hiwassee Lake Resort which later than became Bear Paw. Then it would have been similar to a Norman Rockwell painting when we had a less complicated lifestyle. They wanted the marina to be open 6mo and close when the lake levels dropped. In 1974 they decided to move it out of the cove at mile marker #2 and closer to their home near mile marker #3.  The home they built on top of the mountain above the marina is where my mother lived until 2-10-22 when she passed away. Pictured above along with me are my grandsons.
